I share a few photos of a hiking trip in Les Cerniers, Canton Valais, Switzerland.
There has been lots of snow before we arrived and the trees were loaded!
The thick fog created an eerie and kind of magical atmosphere that was very special. Together with the snow, it dampened the sound and other hikers would seem to appear as out of nowhere.
At times the fog was so thick that we could hardly see the trail. It was amazing to see how it could clear in just a few moments to briefly display a stunning winter landscape.
The views were epic when the fog lifted.
A snapshot of the temperature one afternoon: - 4.2° Celcius.
Icicles formed everywhere and we walked in a frozen forest. It was wonderful!
You could be excused to think that this is a cactus!
And on the way we passed this little frozen monster.
The wonderful shapes that nature can form! Partially melting and then freezing again, the snow has draped over the fence as if for the festive season.
We stayed at the beautiful Whitepod Hotel
Our cosy pod was a welcome site after a very cold day outside in the snow and fog.
